My Professional Life Coach Training

I have completed all of the 116 hours of Core Curriculum courses offered through The Coaches Training Institute. This training consisted of 5 three day intensive courses that I took over the span of 4 months.

The training began appropriately with the Fundamentals course. The Fulfillment, Balance and Process courses are named after the core principles of the Co-Active Coaching Model. Each of the three courses covers in depth, each of the three principles and how to coach them.  In the Bones is an integrative course that deepens confidence and solidifies the skills that have been taught in the previous four courses.

I really enjoyed the training process, although it was extremely challenging to coach and be coached multiple times a day! It was actually physically and emotionally exhausting at times.

But one of the best parts was that I met some amazing people throughout the training, many of whom I consider dear friends and colleagues now and we have on going monthly gatherings so we can get together and share our experiences and keep each other "on our toes". (I'd like to give a special shout out to Ivan aka "Beautiful One" for being our "conduit".)

I have every intention of continuing this journey right through the certification process to become a Certified Professional Co-Active Coach (CPCC) and get my ICF credential. I am also seriously considering attending the Organizational Relationship Systems Coaching courses which is specifically geared toward coaching partnerships, teams, and couples.

Why I chose to train with CTI

The Coaches Training Institute (CTI) was founded in 1992 and is one of the largest coach training organizations in the world, currently delivering courses in North America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

They offer comprehensive training programs for coaches as well as a highly regarded certification program, a unique leadership development program, a curriculum designed specifically for organization and relationship systems coaching and courses in coaching mastery and business development. CTI also hosts a diverse online network The Co-Active Network, through which coaches may engage in special interest dialogue and a strong presence as a visionary force in the field of coaching.

  • The International Coaching Federation (ICF) is the leading global organization dedicated to advancing the coaching profession by setting high standards, providing independent certification, and building a worldwide network of credentialed coaches. The ICF set its standards based on the bar that was set by CTI and so when choosing an institution to train with I chose the one I felt was most instrumental in setting the standard and yet remains on the cutting edge in the field.

The main criterion for becoming a Co-Active Coach is simple:

"One must be FASCINATED by human potential,
INSPIRED by individual creativity and
unwaveringly COMMITTED to holding others as
GRAND and CAPABLE"

- Laura Whitworth One of the Founders of CTI
